Microdermabrasion
Helps repair prematurely aging skin.
You may have heard of dermabrasion, a procedure that sands away the top layer of skin. It’s an effective way to treat severe sun damage, but it causes bleeding and requires a week of recovery time. Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical alternative. Often called a “power peel,” it blasts the skin with tiny crystals that exfoliate the outer layer. This can reduce fine lines, brown spots, and mild acne scars — usually with no recovery time.

Treatment FAQ
Charlie utilizes a state-of-the-art Medical Microdermabrasion device which sprays minute crystals against the skin, effectively abrading dead cells from the surface of the skin while at the same time stimulating and detoxifying the skin. Charlie’s microdermabrasion treatments are uniquely effective due to his use of proprietary youth renewing vitamin and mineral rich serums introduced to the skin along with a relaxing hand and facial massage.
As the outer layer of skin is exfoliated, the powdery dead skin cells are suctioned from the face. Immediately following microdermabrasion, the newly revealed skin looks pink and feels tight, like a sunburn. The irritation usually subsides in about 24 hours leaving subtle improvements in tone and texture.
Microdermabrasion is not for everyone. Your treatment will include a skin analysis consultation to determine the best treatment choices for your skin. If microdermabrasion is not the best choice for your skin and your goals, Charlie will suggest alternative treatment(s).
Pain tolerance varies greatly, however, MOST of Charlie’s clients feel microdermabrasion is slightly annoying (at worst) but overall a relaxing treatment. Some people liken it a cat licking your skin, a slightly scratchy sensation. But not painful.
Charlie offers three microdermabrasion treatment choices. We highly recommend the Signature Microdermabrasion in which, including consultation you’ll have a full 90 minutes with Charlie, the actual treatment takes approximately 75 minutes. The benefits of the treatment will last up to three months, after which time you should consider having a follow up treatment.
We are aware of no respected study proving microdermabrasion is unsafe during pregnancy. Although it is generally accepted in the medical community that microdermabrasion is safe for you and your unborn child; we recommended that you clear the treatment with your physician prior to your appointment.
There are benefits to both types of professional treatments; Charlie utilizes (and prefers) a crystal device manufactured specifically for medical practices right here in Utah. His machines relies on tiny crystals to perform the exfoliation process. We feel when microdermabrasion is used solely for cosmetic reasons the delivery device isn’t nearly as important as the expertise and experience of the person performing the treatment. You can trust that Charlie has this level of experience. When utilizing the procedure for medically supervised skin resurfacing treatments, a diamond tip treatment much like the more invasivedermabrasion, may have a slight advantage.
There are varying degrees of rosacea severity. In some cases microdermasion using crystal devices can actually help rosacea by improving circulation and decreasing encrustation. Again, we will consult and choose the right treatment option for you.
